芭蕾舞剧《火鸟》（The Firebird）是斯特拉文斯基（Igor Stravinsky, 1882-1971）的舞剧三部曲之一， 完成于1910年，同年６月在巴黎歌剧院首演，获得了空前的成功。演出结束后，前来观赏的德彪西会见了当时年轻的斯特拉文斯基，并对这部作品大加赞赏，斯特拉文斯基自此之后一举成名。《火鸟》一共分为７部组曲，其中以第二部《火鸟之舞》最为著名，是各大音乐厅的常备曲目。
本专辑由BIS出品，Andrew Litton指挥，来自挪威的卑尔根爱乐乐团（Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra）演奏。卑尔根爱乐乐团成立于1765年，是欧洲历史最悠久的管弦乐团之一，作曲家格雷格（Edvard Grieg, 1843-1907）曾经在1880-82年间担任过该团的艺术总监。现任的Andrew Litton是该乐团聘用的第一位美籍指挥家，在Andrew的带领下，乐团增加了更多国际性的演出活动，包括2007年在伦敦皇家阿尔伯特音乐厅和纽约卡内基音乐厅的演出都取得了良好的口碑。在演出活动之外，卑尔根爱乐乐团与BIS长期合作，录制了多张古典音乐专辑，其中出版的门德尔松《第２交响曲》曾获得2010年BBC Music Magazine大奖，斯特拉文斯基《春之祭与彼得鲁士卡》提名了2011年英国留声机大奖
